WHICH FUTURE FOR THE OPEN WORLDS ?

Round Table – Thursday 19th September at 7:30pm at the Shadok

Open worlds games have ruled the big-budget video game market for more than a decade, with ever larger game worlds, increasingly sophisticated graphics and more and more quests to complete. However, with all of these additions, is not the genre likely to decline in terms of audience success? Would creators begin to refine the model, to ensure more consistency? Would the open worlds run out of steam?

To discuss the current situation of open worlds games:

  • Maxime and Hugo from the Game Next Door YouTube channel and co- hosts of the Fin du Game podcast;
  • Jehanne Rousseau, director and co-founder of the French studio Spiders;
  • Sébastien Genvo, professor in the field of digital content gamification at the University of Lorraine.
