MASTER CLASS JOHN LANDIS

Sunday 16 September
2 p.m. at the Star St-Exupéry
Followed by a projection of An American Werewolf in London

In the context of our tribute to John Landis, the Festival will be offering a master class led by Jean-François Rauger, programme director of the Cinémathèque française and film critic for Le Monde.

Rauger’s conversations with Landis will be interspersed with film clips, allowing the public to follow the path of this major Hollywood director. Landis was barely out of high school when he started work as mailboy for 20th Century Fox and then left for Europe to work as a gofer and stunt double in European and American action films. From the hilarious Schlock and Burke and Hare, passing through the Blues Brothers, Eddy Murphy and clips for Michael Jackson, the master class will be a grand occasion to explore the career of this great cinephile: one nurtured on TV, sci-fi and cartoons, and who makes fun of all and everything, exposing hidden aspects of the system.

John Landis will receive a lifetime achievement award at the opening ceremony, Friday 14 September at 7:45 p.m. at the Vox.
