MARONA’S FANTASTIC TALE

A little dog with a heart-shaped nose has an accident. She recalls the key moments of her life and the masters she has known. Given the name Nine at birth, she becomes Ana, Sarah and then Marona when she passes from one master to the next and her life turns into a real journey of initiation. For his fifth feature, the Romanian director Anca Damian combines linguistic simplicity with highly inventive animation work in which emotions are expressed through an abundance of visual effects. Marona is a film that is replete with poetry and its use of changing colours carries a profound message.
