The first film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel sequence contributed to the development of coulrophobia, or a deep-seated fear of clowns. Its character Pennywise is a symbol, a grotesque manifestation of childhood terror. This time, Argentinian filmmaker Andy Muschietti, who directed the excellent horror film Mama, has taken on this cult work with the aim of reviving our teenage memories. In the Losers’ Club, the first segment of this two-part film, a group of social misfits fights against the evil clown who has been preying on the town of Derry for hundreds of years.
The Festival will open its doors with what is undeniably the most eagerly awaited horror movie of 2017.
